Type locality There is confusion over the type locality of Labaria (=Pheronema) hemisphaericum. See Gray, 1873c, Carter, 1873a and 1873c, Higgin, 1875a.
The sequence is that Gray says he believes the specimen of Labaria hemisphaerica (along with four specimens of 'Tethya') was collected by Dr A.B. Meyer from Singapore.
Subsequently Carter 1873a redescribed Labaria hemisphaerica, repeating that the specimen was obtained from Singapore.
Subsequently, Carter 1873c mentioned Labaria hemisphaerica from Cebu, Philippines. He does not explain this change of locality, but there was no additional specimen, so we must assume it is the same as Gray's material.
Subsequently, Higgin, 1875a (AMNH (4) 15: 377) cited Dr A.B. Meyer (in AMNH (4) 13: 66) where further data were provided on the precise locality: Talisay, island of Cebu, Philippines. [details]
